Making my PC dvd multi-region

Recommended Posts

DVD Region Free is a piece of software that fools your PC into thinking it can play any DVD. Install it and it'll never ask you to change the region code again.

You can either buy it, or you can download it for "free" from suprnova.org with a bittorrent client.

The limit is not set by Windows. Reinstalling does not reset the count.

The count is registered in the firmware. Some drives are region free though.

Some newer DVD discs will not play on region free drives.

for so many years we have been terroized by the PAL/NTSC/SECAM terrorist fractions.

...and now the region thing

A real simple solution is this:

http://www.dvdidle.com/ja/dvd-region-free-lite.htm

English info here:

http://www.dvdidle.com/en/dvd-region-free-lite.htm

Costs $24.95 and it works on all of my dvds - been using it for a few weeks now with PowerDVD and no complaints at all.

I belive it works with all DVD drives except DVD RAM ones and a couple of other exceptions.

At the bottom it says:

NOTE: DVD-RAM, Matshita XX-8xxx, SW-9xxx series DVD drives, and Torisan DRD-Uxxx series DVD drives are not supported now, and there is no plan to support them.

It works on mine though, definitely worth 3000 yen.
