scouser 4
TOKYO — Nichia Corp and its former employee Shuji Nakamura resolved their dispute on the patent for blue light-emitting diode on Tuesday with an 843 million yen settlement payment by Nichia, sources familiar with the lawsuit said. The settlement, mediated by the Tokyo High Court, is the largest in Japan for an employee's invention. The Tokyo District Court ordered Nichia in January last year to pay Nakamura 20 billion yen in compensation. (Kyodo News)

lin 0
Wasn't he on for much more than that?
Ocean11 0
Yeah, he settled, but he's not happy. He was supposed to get much more. Oddly his attitude is not particularly admired by many Japanese engineers. Investigation has shown that many think Japan's strength lies in its teamwork and modest remuneration. If they had been a bit smarter and not just given him 2 brown ones at first he might not be so pissed off now.
NoFakie 45
An article in Nikkei Electronics a few years back in which he compared himself to Ichiro may not have helped his popularity.
