newtoallthis 0
Anyone here use Ichitaro word processor? Just on the news here that they can't sell it anymore because of an infringement of some copyright or something. Does that have a big market still even with Office marauding most computers? Yes-please. 0
Actually why is that called "Ichitaro"?

peter01.com 0
Quite a few of my colleagues use it. One rather naive colleague is worried about his copy and thinks that he might not be able to use it now.
NoFakie 45
Don't use Ichitaro, but their kanji input system ATOK is much better than Microsoft's IME. Microsoft's IME is very resistant to being turned off though. Like WordPerfect for English word processing, Ichitaro used to be much better than Word (J) until Microsoft started aggressively bundling Office with new computers.
gamera 0
Asahi shinbun says Matsushita seems to assert their copyrights to some icons Ichitaro uses. Just system named it 'Ichitaro' for their word processor, and did 'Hanako' for their drawing software. 'Ichitaro' could be a name for boys, 'Hanako' could be a name for girls. I guess they wanted to grow their stuff as a 'series' like Kanri-kogaku kenkyusho named their database 'Kiri' and did their word processor 'Matsu'.
rach 1
Interesting so they are real names then.
gamera 0
Yeah, but maybe a bit old fashioned.
yamayamayama 2
Interesting they chose an old-fashioned name for a modern piece of software. Is the software seen as old fashioned gamera or really popular?
