muikabochi 208
Apparently that one yesterday moved us here but I didn't feel it.. usually very sensitive to these things!

joshnii 2
I wonder if rahul predicted this one?

soubriquet 0
g-g is the expert, but I have a secret line of communication with him. There will be a magnitude 3 or bigger earthquake east or west of Honshu, Kyushu or Hokkaido between now and December. Everyone evacuate. Does that help?
2pints-mate 0
Quote: Everyone evacuate. I think a fair few are for the summer, so that is covered. The problem is September until December. Find a solution! Gambarimasho!
muikabochi 208
I see there have been a fair few shakes in the Chiba/Tokyo area the last day.... all ok?
me jane 0
I got woken up by one at 3:30 this morning. It was quite scary and went on for ages. I even got up and went into me Tarzan's room in case it got worse.
muikabochi 208
Seems there have been quite a few in the Chiba region in the last few days. I don't really understand the pattern - not a big one to start off with but lots of little ones with a 5.3 in the middle there. Just natural happens all the time kind of stuff or more sinister? tsonday, anyone explain it?

SirJibAlot 0
Same here, being in a tall building - I think I get an exagerated movement from folks closer to the ground. There was just another one at 1:30p this afternoon. That one at 4am the other night was TERRIFYING. Below is the 1:30p quake. == PRELIMINARY EARTHQUAKE REPORT == Region: NEAR EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN Geographic coordinates: 35.241N, 140.096E Magnitude: 4.8 Mb Depth: 46 km Universal Time (UTC): 18 Aug 2007 04:36:39 Time near the Epicenter: 18 Aug 2007 13:36:39 Local time in your area: 18 Aug 2007 13:36:39 Location with respect to nearby cities: 57 km (35 miles) SE (146 degrees) of TOKYO, Japan 130 km (81 miles) SSW (196 degrees) of Mito, Honshu, Japan 148 km (92 miles) ESE (110 degrees) of Kofu, Honshu, Japan
wakaran 1
Way too many round here (I'm between Tokyo and Chiba) right now, feeling rather uneasy.

SirJibAlot 0
ANOTHER one...and a 5.1 - I wonder if these are pre-shocks or aftershocks, the Great Kanto Quake of 2007 is coming?
scouser 4
What are they saying about it all on the news?
soubriquet 0
Confucious he say: "Many small earthquakes better than one big one".
scouser 4
Does he say anything about many smaller ones like this being a precursor for a big one?
SirJibAlot 0
I prefer many small ones, but i worry that these are pre-shocks...they don't seem to be behaving like aftershocks - I think we have yet to see the main quake
soubriquet 0
I'm afraid Confucious is a bit woolly on seismology. As far as I'm aware, big ones aren't normally flagged by small ones. Earthquakes are the release of strain. Be grateful if the strain is being released progressively.
SirJibAlot 0
I don't know soubs....sometimes - when i'm on the 'throne' and the pipes are backed up a bit - I'm pushing to release the strain - some times small little ones some out in a contolled manner, othertimes it's an anal explosion and I need to clean the ceiling afterward. Let's hope there's nothing like that in store for us....
Tubby Beaver 209
there was a wee tremor down here, first I've felt for ages though.
