journey_man 0
I'm at Niseko at the moment having a great time in what snow there is. It seems like heaps of great snow to me, but the locals assure me that it has been a very dry season so far. The plan was to move down to Nagano for February and check out the snow there - however reading some of the threads it sounds like there isn't a lot of snow. What do people think, stay in Hokkaido or visit Nagano?
r45 4
There is more snow in Hokkaido now than there is in Nagano and other neighbouring kens. It might be good to check other places out, but don't expect to find more.
snosurf 0
But then again, sometimes less can be more....if you know what I mean.
Kumapix 0
it dumped in Hakuba today...
kkk 7
Is that a normal year dump (50cm) or a 2006/2007 season dump (10cm)?
SirJibAlot 0
It was a bit of a wet dump (that sounds kinda nasty), but some good accumulation and some fun runs under the lifts
thursday 1
for heaven's sake, go try out the other places. I would be sick to death to stay in the same place for so long.
skidaisuki 0
Journey Man - Niseko's excellent but spending 2 MONTHS there...? Come to Japan...! Talk of a 'shortage' of snow away from Hokkaido depends where you are, and is relative because Japan normally gets so much. It's top to bottom everywhere in Hakuba for example, and we had a great time there this weekend. You'll be missing out if you don't see what Hakuba, Nozawa and Shiga Kogen (at least) have to offer. SirJibAlot 0
skidaisuki, Where in Hakuba did you end up riding this weekend?
skidaisuki 0
47 + Goryu. After a big sesh had three hours sleep on Friday night and my gf was with me so dodged the party last night. Will try and make it next time, though
Yuki's Passion 1
The Sat snow in Otari was sweet - driest in the valley that day from reports from other places. Snow today was sweet too - good lines, shitty traverses out, and deep.
big-will 7
Good to hear Hakuba got something decent. Niigata still looks quite dry.
journey_man 0
lol, I wouldn't stay just at Niseko! But travel around a bit. My Hokkaido roadie didn't pan out so I was wondering about heading south, but I kept hearing these persistent rumours that it wasn't very good down there... Sooooo, how much did Hakuba get?
