muikabochi 208
Does anyone know if there was once a plan to connect Maiko Kogen and Iwappara together at the top there?
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted November 29, 2006 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted November 29, 2006 Yes I believe that was the plan. They really are quite close at the top it wouldn't have taken much for that to happen... but it didn't. With the future of Maiko in the balance it doesn't look like it will be something that will be happening anytime soon. (Would be good though). There's a really good summer road going up behind Iwappara, must have cost a fortune but it goes to pretty much nowhere now - basically to the back part of the Maiko bowl. I think they were going to have summer stuff going on up there as well. Great views.
nori-chan 0
I like Maiko I hope someone will continue open it.
scouser 4
That bowl behind the top at Maiko is a decent place to be. If they were connected that would be a big place. It would probably only need 1 lift to connect the places from the top/far side of Iwappara to the bottom of the bowl.
igloo 3
Is Maiko closing or something?
echineko 1
I heard that the resort sell Maiko, so if somebody will buy it will continue. It is quite popular resort I think.
snowboarding-sam 0
I reckon that would be really good, the snow is often good back of Maiko Kogen.
