Markie 0
Well, the snow levels are obviously down significantly at Kiroro and also at Happo and Goryu this morning. Looks like we need some more North wind and colder temps.
Markie 0
Those bare patches are beginning to show at Happo. At Kiroro, the pond which was nearly filled up last week looks to be about 3 feet deep today. We need more freshies. December is approaching.
thursday 1
Lots of green looking up from Kogen. Opening day at N looks likely to be a bit greener than wanted.
coldcat 0
Well, if I didn't mistake the "kanji", there's a snow storm forecasted for opening day in the Niseko area.

Markie 0
Thanks coldcat. That kanji does indicate heavy snow.
Markie 0
Unfortunately, I looked up the Hakuba forecast on that same site and there is no snow being forecast there right up to Nov 28.
Markie 0
Some nasty images of melting snow and lots of grass at Happo this morning. Hokkaido seems to be getting more rain than snow too.
thursday 1
NisekoNow, "Winter is certainly taking awhile to take a hold this year. To be honest most of us who live here aren't too unhappy about that as there's still so much work to do preparing for the coming season and heavy snow would be quite a hinderance." Your sesaon starts tomorrow and there's not enough snow to open. And you're not too unhappy about it? I certainly feel for the peeps who booked early season. When it begins proper, maybe the skiers would be a bit of a hindrance getting in the way of all the construction work.
dale#1 1
True though.
SnowJapan Moderator SnowJapan.Com#4 5 Posted November 22, 2006 SnowJapan Moderator Share Posted November 22, 2006 We've edited that report slightly, just in case it originally came across the wrong way. Snow. Please.
Markie 0
No, editing the report does not make amends, SJ4. What you have to do is amend the weather! So get your dancing shoes on and do that Snow Dance!

Markie 0
At least it looks like it is snowing now in Kiroro, but the pond that had been filling up with snow has now really become back a pond...with water.
coldcat 0
By looking at the webcam,I think it's also snowing in niseko

Not all of us want the snow to come as early as last year I can assure you. We all know it will come so if the big dumps hold off for another week or two it won't make most locals unhappy. Maybe you tourists will get a bit jittery though Check out this link to the Grand Hirafu site that shows little snow at this time of year is hardly unusual Niseko Grand Hirafu - Snow Report
