SnowJapan.Com#2 0
While my more technical colleagues were sat in front of pcs, I was lucky enough to take a bit of time out in Shiga Kogen. I took a lot of photos of the area and resorts while I was there and uploaded a lot. Part of Yokoteyama and Shibutoge at the top were still open - hardly anyone around though. Here's a few pics, more can be found here: http://www.snowjapan.com/e/insider/photo.php?userid=ShigaKogenNow
LiquidX 0
Looks like a pretty long run still open up there. Really great views from the top of that place, I like it.
oo 1
I can see 2 people there! I wonder if they cover costs opening up.....
BagOfCrisps 24
We are currently planning to go there next winter.... may not be off to Hokks now.
Yuki's Passion 1
those first two pics are from Yokoteyama's Dai 2 lift I believe. Yokoteyama isnt so steep with only 2 runs that are above the intermediate level. Though at Dai 3 last year I had some epic powder runs and nobody else to share it with
klingon 10
It is and the 3rd one is I'm pretty sure over the top at Shibutoge.
BagOfCrisps 24
BTW, is that the bottom part that is not connected to the rest of the area?
SnowJapan.Com#2 0
Yes the southern part of the resort - Shibutoge / Yokoteyama / Kumanoyu all connected but separated from the rest of the areas. There's a bus linking them up and they use the same ticket for the main season, but you've can't ride the snow between them.
sanjo 2
It would be great if those areas were linked up. Pretty flat though isn't it there?
BillTheBinMan 0
That area of SK is very much a "skiers" area more than boarding - well, thats the impression I got when I was there.
ireallylikebakedbeans 0
Yes but the rest of it is open up to boarders apart from the other extreme at Okushiga. Still a huge area for boarders.
scouser 4
It sure it. Gets a lot of misunderstanding that place I feel.
akafuji 0
It's my favorite resort area. I really love Shiga Kogen and highly recommend it.
cheeseonion 0
SK is my favorite area as well. It's just so big and so uncrowded (well maybe the middle Ichinose part gets crowded) with some fantastic snow conditions.
