mina2 6
I heard someone say it was the least snow in Kagura in living memory this last season - seems reasonable. I'm sure next season will be a step up and hopefully back to something like normal. I was quite surprised they managed to stay open as long as they did.
muikabochi 208
Surely. I am sure I heard they used to open in late October.
scouser 4
Late October - a full month earlier than what they do now? Wow. Wouldn't mind seeing records of that.
tsondaboy 0
Ok time to bring this thread back to life. There are news from the big K! The have taken down the kagura #3 lift (1 seat) and replaced it with a new romance lift (quad?). Also they say that they have fixed the flat part of the kagura gondola course. http://www.princehotels.co.jp/ski/kagura/index.html
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted October 17, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted October 17, 2007 Hi tsondaboy, thanks for posting - we'll be updating the now page with that soon. The Romance lift is, I am fairly sure, a pair lift not a quad.
nippontiger 8
Ahh Kagura! I went there on most of my outings last season - and by timing my trips, I was able to get some good powder almost every time, despite the poor season. As with most high resorts though, watch out for the wind on snowy days. I did just that on, I think March the 3rd last year and went to Kandatsu instead - got almost of full day of waist deep! Might not get there so much this season cos a day trip is more tricky for me now.
tsondaboy 0
SJF, will you be able to post some insider/first hand info from the resort officials about the renovations they are doing up there?
SerreChe 2
Good news for the flat section. Will entice me to ride down more often. On a side note, I like the pic on the link of the rusty Tashiro Gondola. When I look at most gondolas in the summer rusting away until next season I am always amazed that there are no safety concerns. Anyway, good to see they are making some efforts to improve. muikabochi 208
That lift replacement is hardly a big deal. I doubt I'll be using it anyway.

tsondaboy 0
You had a pass last season too?
EustabiaChiq 0
Had a season pass but didn't get the free car park one. Spent loads on parking on the weekends.
tsondaboy 0
Thats because there was no free park one for the mitsumata parking lot last season. All the season pass guys were pissed about that, I remember. That was the first time that they didn't give free parking for the season passes in mitsumata side. The tashiro side was free for all last season and from what they say in their HP it will be this season too.
EustabiaChiq 0
Sounds pretty lame but that extra couple of kms and the thought of the ski over to Kagura were enough to make me take the 1000yen hit.
