mina2 6
Tenjindaira (Gunma) always opens around late November, but this year is the first time in over 10 years that they didn't need man-made snow to help them with opening. Over 60cm up there (though they're actually now reporting 120cm) and skiers/snowboarders mingling with the normal tourists on the ropeway up.
SerreChe 2
Good stuff, hopefully some good lines to be had soon there!

mina2 6
Yes it is. I'll be up there hopefully in the next few days.
SerreChe 2
Please report on the conditions there when you're back (if you have a chance). Keen to go there at some stage. Thanks dude.
SerreChe 2
That reminds me, I cannot see the Tenjin webcam though the SJ site. If I remember correctly, cannot see much anyway usually as it tends to be over-exposed (directly facing in the sun or something)!
SnowJapan Moderator SnowJapan.Com#4 5 Posted December 7, 2005 SnowJapan Moderator Share Posted December 7, 2005 It seems they have changed it - the webcam center is one of the things we are currently working on (so many things to do!)
olivermauss 0
I heard that they dont allow you to do the gondola run anymore. i.e. price of a lift ticket includes one ride up and down only. If you want to go again, you have to pay.. Can anyone confirm?
SnowJapan Moderator SnowJapan.Com#4 5 Posted December 9, 2005 SnowJapan Moderator Share Posted December 9, 2005 There is a lift ticket + ropeway ticket available - one-day @ 5000 yen http://www.tanigawadake-rw.com/skiseason/ryokin.html
stepchild 0
ooooh, i rode tenjin on the opening day. only 2000 yen to ride as it was the snow festival. holy lord, there was loads of pow up there, and hardly anyone shredding. we rode for about 6 hours, stopping only once to eat free mochi and konyaku. it was the best first day of the season that i`ve ever had. face shots, natural hits a-plenty and lashings of powder slashes!! epic day!!!
