Yuki's Passion 1
Sweet Just had the feeling from the posts you had that you stuck only to the groomed runs...
rigor mortis 0
okutadami gets a lot of snow, opens soon. its in niigata near where the big earthquake was last year. but its a bit tough to get to.
gamera 0
Okutadami area gets tons of snow. When I was a uni student, train timetable said "service unavailable" in winter ( approx, December - March ) around Tadami due to snow. Not sure how it goes now.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted October 31, 2005 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted October 31, 2005 Okutadami usually opens from November until January and then it closes from then until around mid-March when it opens again until sometime in May. There is a lot of snow up there but the main problem is the road going up to the place. I went once fairly early season and "powder" is not what we found there (it was pretty poor). Having said that, it is definitely one of the first places to open. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/resortdetail.php?resid=23 http://www.okutadami.co.jp/
grungy-gonads 54
Small place hey? I don't think I will be bothered.
Magnus76 0
So it's true as they say - Hokkaido is a pretty flat place - though they get tons of snow to compensate... ?
big-will 7
Magnus, if you want to see crazy amounts of snow, check out some of the photos from previous seasons on the yuzawa now page http://www.snowjapan.com/e/insider/photo.php?userid=YuzawaNow Thats in Niigata. SnowJapan.Com#2 0
Okutadami Maruyama will be opening up tomorrow - the first in Niigata with natural snow.... they reckon they have about 70-80cm up there (5 courses to open above number 2 lift) A small part of Kita Shiga Ryuo in Nagano will also open (artificual snow). RockyV 0
I'm not sure if anyone is going to read this beofore I leave in the morning for the hills, but where do you think I should go tomorrow shiga ryuo or normal shiga (I'm assuming there has been no change since sat-i.e. kumanoyu and takamagahara-one lift going about a third of the way up the hill) I have never been to ryuo so I thinking of going there, it's also cheaper 3,000yen vs 3,900yen
Fattwins 0
all of them will be pretty much the same
brit-gob 9
I would go normal Shiga. Ryuo is lower down and only artificial snow.
CrazyFrog 0
Ryuo looks like it is high up. Take a look at the pics some dude posted.
