snow in tokyo is always fun. 1 inch of snow and everyone starts to put in snowchains in the middle of the road making sure no one can pass.

my dad used to have an old ice toboggan. once every 3 or 4 years when the freezing rain covered everything that was a freaking rocket. my dad set a good record of 500 meters of distance off of a 15meter vertical mountain.

Out west in the Van city area we would get just a few cm's of snow and all the hills would be scraped right clean. Just slippery grass. But the kids would still be out there.

Its crazy how much Further West Hiroshima is but we always got snow there. I havent seen snow here in Kansai - only once you get outside of Kyoto on the expressway is where it usually started/stopped

I love it when snows in Tokyo. It's really fun. But it is not often.

DD, maybe once a year.

But even with slight snow, people there get in panic to drive their cars coz they are not accustomed to it.

 

I live in snowland and people here used to it and cars here have special batteries for cold places, so do trains.

Even just out of the snowy regions of Niigata, like here in Sanjo, people aren't that used to snow driving. It happens a few times a year, but people aren't happy with it and many don't manage well.

2-3 hours from Tokyo and there are probably 100 places! That gets you to Gunma, Niigata, Tochigi, even Nagano.

I think they'd need 2 meters overnight to close the schools down in some of the snow areas here!
