sava 0
I don't live in Japan but have looked up a fair few J resorts, including smaller ones but haven't even heard of Tsuchidaru?
SnowJapan.Com#2 0
No need to worry about this one - Tsuchitaru is a tiny tiny 300 meter long one run type of place deep in the valley nearest to Gunma.... they only used to get visitors in the low thousands for the whole season even in peak times. Apparently (and this is not confirmed, just what I heard from some Yuzawa people), the reason for having it was that they had a cunning plan to have an I.C. made on the Kanetsu Expressway directly from Tsuchitaru through the mountain to Naeba, and Tsuchitaru was strategically placed if they were going to go ahead with that. That plan never went ahead of course and is extremely unlikely to!!
SnowJapan.Com#2 0
No other news to report at the moment....
yamayamayama 2
It's amazing how places like that stayed open as long as they did...
fukdane 2
I remember going past that place on the local train (I think, nearer the expressway tunnel going through to Gunma?) - it really is a tiny place.
grungy-gonads 54
An IC from Tsuchitaru > Naeba? Wow, that would have to be a 15km+ tunnel right? Nuts!
xxx 2
I'd have to be pretty long for sure, though I suppose direct from there to Naeba may well be shorter than we imagine.
A lawyer 0
Damn, there go my winter holidays. I remember a Japanese friend of mine explaining that place as having "really great snow".
big-will 7
And I was planning on going there as well. I'd be interested to know what kind of people go to crappy places like that in the first place. I suppose it must be beginner families and the like..
scouser 4
Never seen it, never even knew it existed. Would this place have beaten Wada Toge?
