snowzzang 0
Hi! Are the ski resorts generally crowded on the Lunar New Year's Day? Here in Korea, although we take almost the whole week off around the Lunar New Year's Day, it's more or less family gathering time and it's actually a very good time to escape the usual holiday crowd on the runs. I'm wondering how it is in Japan.

snowzzang 0
I didn't know Japan do not observe the Lunar New Year's Day. This year, it's February 9th.

gamera 0
Lunar New Year really depends on the moon, Feb. 9th for this year, somewhen around mid January for last year. I don't think ski slopes get crowded at that time because Japan doesn't have the lunar new year any more - my parents told me Japan might have had it before when they were kids. Even they were not sure, so who cares? lol
echineko 1
Maybe Chinese people care. Even weekend now I don't feel so busy.
gamera 0
I meant who cares until when Japan had the lunar new year, echi
taguchi 0
I think it will be rare this season to find really crowded resort - especially compared to many years ago. Now more than a few minute wait is rare. I remember about 10 years ago waiting for maybe 45 minutes to get fairly short pair lifts. It sounds really bad now!
sakebomb 0
I saw a story on the TV recently here in Hokkaido and they had a graph that showed the decline in numbers of people skiing/boarding over the past 10 years. Quite a steady decline too! A little concerning!
