rach 1
I seem to spend more time on the Goryu side, but I was wondering if that was the norm or not? What about all you other guys and gals that have been to those resorts?
cal 6
Hi Rach I prefer Goryu too but we usually stay in a place at the bottom of 47 so thats where we start and end the day.
Matt 0
Usually spend more time on the 47 side but love Goryu too
scouser 4
Like them both rach, depends on the day, weather, conditions.
grungy-gonads 54
I like both of them, but tend to spend more time on the Goryu side which, when I have been, seems to get the better snow (agree?)
rajeem 0
My vote goes to the 47 part, although it's difficult to split the two parts up....in my mind, they're one resort.
big-will 7
Give me a ticket to either/both and I won't complain.
oo 1
They're both decent places, 1 resort in my opinion.
xxx 2
I haven't been to the places too much but they seemed decent. We spend most of our time over on the Goryu side.
brit-gob 9
Which side gets the better snow generally? Anyone?
cakehead 0
The times I've been the better snow has been on the Goryu side. Are these places owned by the same company?
NoFakie 45
Can't say I've ever noticed a difference in the snow between them. I've been loads of times, but I'll look for it next season. The bottom of 47 is in the shade, which is maybe why it gets so icy. However, I normally just ride the 47 quad, so it's no big deal for me. The Goryu mogul runs (Adventure and Champions courses) are fun when there's lots of powder on them. Mos Burger and Haagen Daaz are worth a shout as well.
oo 1
They both seem pretty much the same to me too.
Guest
Niseko'z better than both. Best in the world in fact.
Matt 0
Iwent to Niseko last christmas and new year for 2 and a half weeks and although i had some good boarding I was a bit disappointed. The famous off piste bits like Strawberries were good but VERY short with long flat run outs. Tetsus was kind of crap and flat. The summit run was great but theres just as good out of bounds runs at goryu/47 that don't require a 15 minute hike. Hakuba 47/Goryu definitely has better off piste. Longer, steeper, better terrain and more of it. The backcountry at Hakuba also rules. I'm expecting some flames on this one!
oo 1
I don't think you will get too many flames Matt. Most people know about Niseko, and the fact that it is hyped up beyond reality. My fave places are on Honshu - and oh so many to choose from too.
del-buoy 0
I prefer the 47 part, for no specific region. I just usually end up there.
Davo 1
Definately Goryu if you're misbehavin-epic powder runs and a sharp turnaround on the gondola.
LiquidX 0
Goryu for me too
