cheeseman 1
If people ate more of our nutritiously nutritious nutritious friend, cheese (in it's many nitritious forms), we wouldn't be in this pickle.
oo 1
....we can only keep our fingers crossed.......
miteyak 0
Warmer weather doesn't always mean less snow. Not good for marginal regions, but for areas cold enough to handle a temperature rise, it can mean more precipitation!
Wizz 11
Good point miteyak. Although that wasn't the case mid-January of this last season.... Fingers crossed.
rajeem 0
Marginal regions lose out - bad for us in Kansai and further down south then. And it will make the bigger resorts busier, won't it?
LiquidX 0
Don't they say that a hot summer points to a cold coming winter? That's the one saying that I'll believe this year. And this summer definitely comes under the hot category surely?
cal 6
Thats what I've heard them saying every year as well LiquidX. But there's nothing in it I reckon. Let's just wait for it to cool down. I'd rather have a decent longer season than just more snow in a shorter period.
f 0
I'm just fed up with the heat, just give me a bit of cool weather or snow...we'll worry about the details later on.
miteyak 0
Sorry, but this really wasn't a hot summer. Touch on the cool side for these parts, methinks.
Ocean11 0
Yeah, it's been pretty cool apart from a few short spells of heat. It's feeling like the start of autumn here already.
Wizz 11
"Cool" you're kidding right?
Ocean11 0
Not. I had a moderately heavy night out last night and consequently was sprawled in my libingu in a state of partial undress at 3 pm today, and found sleep impossible due to the chill factor. I had to put on some trousers. I'm going to go out for a run tonight, and I fully anticipate getting a runny nose from the cool air. Can't crumble though, eh?
lin 0
World weather is going crazy - have you seen what's going on in central Europe?
miteyak 0
29 in Osaka today, and it's still August. Never got above 37 here this year, and even those days were clear blue days, not the heavy wet days of years gone by.
mort 0
There's no sense in taking it in too much, but I know what it's like., all the anticipation. Ocean, [Can't crumble though, eh?] ??
Ocean11 0
Urgent bulletin from Nagano - it's cold. I have chilly toes as I type this - no socks on today, but yesterday they were very necessary. Also a summer futon and summer blanket are not enough at night. If it continues like this, there should be snow in late October. But will it continue??
NoFakie 45
The thermometer above the road next to Yanaba read 11 degrees last night.

rach 1
This is just from a Japanese friend right, so no need to get excited. They told me last night that they had heard (from a friend of the dogs ) that the 3 month forecast for Oct/Nov/Dec is a mild October, then a cold Nov/Dec (with more than average snow on the Japan Sea side). Just thought I'd pass on the hopeful semi-'news'. rach
Ocean11 0
Dogs always know about the long-range weather forecast. If a dog says there's going to be snow on the Japan Sea coast, you'd better believe it.
NoFakie 45
It's still very early, but you can check out a long-range forecast here on Weather Eye (Japanese) Click on the three month forecast for the goodness. They say temperatures and precipitation look like "normal", though "normal" in the snowy regions means lots of snowy days. Last year's long-range forecast was for a mild winter, and while there were some big falls, it proved to be correct.
