stemik 14
Has anybody out there been heli skiing in Japan, would like to know the experiences and the prices!
Ocean11 0
Russian 'Hind' helicopters can be had very cheap these days although they use a lot of gas. I recommend buying one in a group and sharing costs and driving. They're also very good for strafing the ski-patrol huts.
hutch 0
I heard there was some in Niigata?? Maybe the SJG crew could help us out on this one?? would cost a crap load no doubt
Nat 0
Kagura/Tashiro area has Heli-Ski tour in April. (I forgot the date but I think sometime in Mid-April.) People gonna go up to Mt. Kagura (or somewhere near there) by Heli then ride to the bottom. But I remember that tour is SKIERS ONLY. NO snowboarders....
Kuma 0
Yeah Nat, it has to be skiers only because it's called heliskiing.. They can't advertise heliboarding coz then the skiers wouldn't come.. The price for the Kagura thing was 16000,-
Matt 0
They have heliskiing at Sugadaira too. I haven't done it myself but I think they drop you at the top of Neko-dake. I climbed that mountain in summer and its pretty flat so not sure if its worth it or not
Guest
Bit late on this one. It is true that you can do it in Sugadaira, the heli leaves from near Urataro ski area, it costs about 8 thousand, but they don`t do it unless the weather conditions are really good. You can also do it at Tsugaike in Hakuba, about the same price. This sounds like a better option to me.

SerreChe 2
Sounds like the Japanese Heli stuff is a bit on the weak side. Nearest place with the goods is probably the Kamtchka peninsula in Russia. http://www.yak-yeti.com/# Should check the vidz in the Gallerie section. Not sure how to get to Petropavlosk from Japan though !
fb_steve 0
this may sounds stupid... but seems helicopters are far beyond the purchasing power of most of us, i wonder if anyone could use one of those handgliders with a small motor on it? or maybe a hovercraft like they do on lakes! i can see them both working in the right conditions wack a pair of skis on this badboy and you're set!
