Guest
....or did you just go straight to the board?? Just out of interest.
Ocean11 0
I looked at skiing. I came, I saw, I boarded.
barok 0
yep i used to ski, might try it again someday if someone wants to switch with me. i quit because snowboarding was much more fun and because i didn't have to walk around in uncomfortable boots carrying toothpicks all over creation. pod 0
I used to ski for 10 years before taking up the board last season. Now I probably board more than ski, but still enjoy both of them.
big-will 7
I sure did. For about 7 seasons. The last 4 seasons I have been on the board, but thinking that next year gonna try skiing again.
rach 1
Yes, for a short while. Now pretty much boarding all the time - easier!
Guest
I have never skied, and only chose boarding because my mates were into it and could help me out. Kinda interested in skiing tho
Guest
Yep, was a keen skier, but as soon as I started boarding that was it. Would never think of alpine skiing again. Still like XC/Tele a lot though.
Guest
Still do a bit of telemarking, but no normal skiing anymore. Most of the time I'm on the board - so much more fun if you ask me.
ollie 0
I ski'd for 3 or 4 seasons, but then I tried snowboarding and haven't ski'd since. I was also skateboarding for 3 years until a bad injury forced me to quit, so the transition to snowboarding came easily for me .
grungy-gonads 54
For a while yes, wasn't quite as grungy as I am now tho'
tomas 0
Interesting to see the "rivalry" (comradeship?!) between skiers and snowboarders. I never would have thought. thomas (PS Never done either, going to be a beginner next season)

thomasu 0
I first skied over 20 years ago, then tried some boarding a couple of years back in France. I will be in Japan for the next winter season and will probably start off back on the skis.
Guest
I used to ski until I stopped skiing. Now I ride The Board.
Raury 0
Went straight onto a board. Ex surfer/skateboarder, so the concept of going sideways was already in my head. Thought about skiing, but am very worried about my knees getting totally trashed in an accident.
cal 6
Its funny that, I've heard of a few people who have done their knees in from skiing. I thought they were just moaning, is it a common condition?
Raury 0
I know quite a few skiers that have trashed their knees, including requiring surgery. My knees have always been pretty weak and have some side to side movement and quite easily become sore and packed with fluid from pushing a shopping trolley that has dodgy wheels. Basically they sprain if twisted even a little bit. So I have always been worried about making the problem worse, and the thought of twisting them in a skiiing accident petrifies me. Ocean11 0
There's plenty of wear and tear on the knees with snowboarding too. An ankle injury I took resulted in a painful knee as a side-effect. A friend hit a mogul with knees locked backwards and pretty much screwed them up for life. So it's not as if you choose snowboarding to save your knees...
Matt 0
I heard that Snowboarding is more dangerous than skiing for ankle injuries due to the softer boots but skiiers are much more likely to have knee injuries because their knees can rotate independently. This is unlike snowboarding where any rotation force effects both legs . . . two knees are stronger than one. Having said this I screwed up my knee in February by accidently flying into a tree and I was on a board
