It's a composite of lots of photos of just one yellow dude. It's real in as much as it records his actual movement down the slope.

Does anybody know how you actually make one of these? Is it a question of taking rapid shots from a fixed position and then montaging them in P-shop, or is there more to it than that?

Maybe this be an insight into the delicacies of the operation performed to create sequence shots.

Pretty much a photoshop montage, hard to tell how hard or easy it was at this resolution, but with the camera on a tripod and rapid shots, layering the men into the final picture would be a simple but monotonous procedure.

To take that one in this thread, you're going to need a camera with a very fast winder or a special sports digital. Most SLRs can shoot continuously, but you're not going to get anything like enough pictures for a detailed sequence.

Agreed. The pics in this series very evenly spaced. Of course the skiers speed is not consistent throughout the interval. I would wager to say these shots were taken with a very nice camera and that more than are shown were actually taken. Then the pics that didn't fit the series were removed.

That's assuming the pics are in there original places. It's easy to move people around a bit to even out the spacing. A pro SLR with a cable release so one can get a better perspective on the action should provide enough shots as a base.

Without seeing the montage at a very high resolution one can't tell how much editing was done.
