liz 0
I live in Saitama, just to the north of Tokyo. This will be my first winter in Japan and I'm soooo excited about checking out the snow here. Anyone recommend my first resort to go to. I'd say I was somewhere higher than a beginner, still learning but having fun. I'd like a place that is fairly big, impressive looking, good snow, good views. Where should I go???? Thanks all! grungy-gonads 54
You cant really go wrong with one of the bigger places like Hakuba. But that's not the nearest to where you are. Depends on how much you want/will travel
liz 0
I was thinking maybe close, maybe in Gunma or yuzawa area of Niigata. I heard KAgura is a good place.

Will Lee 0
Not sure exactly where in Saitama you are but there are many choices along the Kanetsu Hwy. When you said resort did you mean you were thinking about staying overnight or just a one-day trip? I think Tanbara(Gunma Pref) would be a nice place for you to check out. It`s probably about a 1.5hr drive from where you are. It has mostly beg and int slopes. They`ve also got quite a few kickers.

Nat 0
If you live in near Omiya, Yuzawa are is easy to go. Kagura, Mitsumata is SUPER COOL in Yuzawa area. cheers
grungy-gonads 54
I'd go to Naeba on a weekday more than Kagura first time. Better for learners....
