Additional ski areas & content updates

Over the last year or so, in the process of putting the new site together (and research for SnowJapanHistory), we have discovered some operating ski areas we were unaware of. As you might expect, they are generally very small local ski areas, but they all have a place on SnowJapan. As we work on various new content over the next few months, we will gradually add those ski areas to SnowJapan. Our plan is to get them all listed on the site before winter.

As each one is added, it will be noted in this topic.

One of our goals is to provide reliable, up-to-date and detailed coverage of every single ski area in Japan - current ski areas on SnowJapan.com and ski areas from the past on SnowJapanHistory.com. You can expect all our content to be further checked, updated and added to over the coming months and years.

We're going to enjoy doing it!

27th July 2022

Over the last few weeks, we have added 21 ski areas in 8 different prefectures of Japan - Hokkaido, Iwate, Yamagata, Nagano, Shiga, Mie, Nara and Yamaguchi. That's it for now.

The ski areas in Mie, Nara and Yamaguchi required those prefectures to be added to our database.

As noted above, while site-wide updates will take some time to complete, these ski areas already appear in the primary listings and searches on the site.

We were genuinely quite surprised that there were so many that needed to be added. While there may well be some other operating ski areas we are not yet aware of, there really cannot be many! Eventually, if there are any more, we will find them and have them listed on SnowJapan.

If you are aware of any, please do let us know.

Over the next few months, we will concentrate on the manual process of checking and updating information for every ski area throughout Japan in time for the 2022-2022 winter season**. That process will take us through December.
