Greetings!

Temperatures have at last dropped to a more comfortable level, the first sprinklings of snow have been spotted on Mt Fuji and here we are in October.

We have now been working on various ski area updates for a few weeks. It is becoming increasingly clear that updating information on 500 ski areas around Japan is going to be very time consuming this year and considerably more complicated than usual.

But we are a feeling genki, fully charged… and definitely up for the job!

As well as gradually updating the individual ski area pages within SnowJapan, here is how we plan to bring various news to your attention.

We have split our Blog section into two.

Site news:

This section will essentially be a continuation of our existing blog.

NEW Ski area news from around Japan:
https://www.snowjapan.com/community/index.php?/blogs/blog/47-snowjapan-ski-area-news-from-around-japan/

In this cunningly titled new blog section, we will be introducing various ski area news from around Japan over the coming weeks and months.

One ongoing post that is already up there will report on ski areas around Japan that will not be opening (or there is a high chance of not opening) for the 2020-2021 winter season.

Another post will record news on specific ski lifts that are going to be rested for the upcoming season – currently with information on planned rested lifts at Niseko Grand Hirafu and Rusutsu in Hokkaido.

Other individual news items of interest will also be posted when we have them. Currently we have posts on the new gondola lifts that are opening this season at Nozawa Onsen and Shiga Kogen in Nagano.

Just a few important points to remember:

We are not a news organisation and we do not claim that our lists will be complete. Our intention is to share good information with our readers and to that end we will do the best that we can.

Also, none of these efforts are sponsored in any way - no-one is telling us what to post and we will not be posting press releases or anything like that.

We are not going to post 'only good news' or 'only bad news'. We will post what we consider to be interesting and useful.

As always, we will enjoy actively avoiding getting into ‘politics’.  :friend:

Note that there may be a delay between updates appearing on the blog and the individual ski areas pages within SnowJapan being updated. It is an ongoing process.

If you know anyone who may be interested in this new 'news' blog, please do let them know about it.

The main blog index can be found here:

OK, back to it.

Gambarimasu.
