About the current coronavirus situation and our reporting

We are aware and do understand that people have many specific and detailed questions at the moment regarding travel and holiday plans to Japan.

Many of you have contacted us about the current conditions regarding the corona virus in Japan's Snow Country, and whether or not it is safe to travel or stay in the region.

We'd like to give a positive answer, and in fact we haven't heard much information about actual outbreaks in the rural areas. But we aren't a health organization, and we don't have access to up-to-date, accurate information. So it would be inappropriate—and unwise, really!—for us to provide any advice. Things may change very rapidly, as we have seen in many places around the world.

We strongly advise contacting your own embassy in Japan, or the appropriate health and foreign related organization in your country before traveling. You can contact your travel agent or accommodations in Japan, but, again, understand that they may only be able to provide the current situation, which of course could change rapidly.

The most important thing is to try to stay healthy and safe.

SnowJapan will be here after the situation actually is under control and Japan's ski resorts will still be here to welcome you in better circumstances.

About our daily reports

There are admittedly some increasingly complicated feelings regarding the remains of the ski season.

As what we do is basically document the season (rather than try to convince you to do things and buy stuff), we feel that it is appropriate for us to continue posting our daily reports - for as long as the ski resorts in each relevant region remain open.

We will continue to generally avoid getting into the 'headline news' and just try to continue going on about creating that full record of the season.

You can find our daily reports here:

We truly wish everyone well.

Let us hope that the increasingly challenging situation we all find ourselves in can improve soon.

Please take care everyone, wherever you are in the world.
