What's Niseko like in summer?

Question

I can read the blurb from the Niseko Marketing Machine, but anyone been up there in summer?  What's it like?

I hate this rainy season (and unbearably hot summers too)9, heard Hokkaido doesn't have one. But at the same time I saw a few weeks ago some mad temps up there in Hoikkaido but that was a one off abnormality, right?

Much quieter, of course.

And much cooler generally than lots of Japan south of Hokkaido.

These are good things.

But they apply to all of Hokkaido and unless you want the 'summer activity' kind of stuff, there are plenty of beautiful get-away-from-it-all places to explore on the island. (That are less expensive too!)

In some ways, I want to go to Niseko / Hokkaido in summer more than in winter.

The climate sounds much more friendly.

Hokkaidough can still get hot in summer, though we generally avoid the nastiness of a rainy season and the mad heat that Honshu has to suffer for extended times.

Definitely worth a shufty, particularly if you are looking for an escape from the sauna.
