SSAWS (Chiba)

Question

Hi

I’m living now close to where there used to be the large indoor SSAWS slope in Chiba.

Wish it were still here. Any long-timers ever get to go there?

I did! It was the first place I skied in Japan, and was responsible for rekindling my interest in skiing, which I had not done since I was a kid.

I owe a lot to that old place.  I wish it were still there, too!

Blast from the past!

I wish I had made it there. Obviously, real snow on real mountains wins out but if you live over there.

That one in Dubai looks nuts.

It just wasn't making enough money (pretty sure).

I went once in mid summer. It sure felt great!

I believe I heard that it was built to demonstrate the technology, and was planned from the start to close after a certain number of years.
