Staying in Niigata city - where's my spot?!

Question

I'll be in Niigata city next winter and stoked that I'll be so close to the snow.

My research tells me that the big two areas of Niigata are the Yuzawa area and the Myoko areas. And there's some to the north that are closer, but smaller scale.

Any top tips from anyone else in Niigata?

I'm a skier. Better than beginner not as good as expert!   ;)

Can't wait!

Nice, Brillow!

A lot will depend on if you will have the use of a car.

Do you know if you will?

Not sure joshnii, but hoping that I might. I'll also be trying to get some good friends with cars.  ;)

If you have a car all three of those areas will be pretty easy to get too.

My Niigata friends ended up going down to Yuzawa/Minamiuonuma the most. The skijo to the north aren't as big and less reliable with snow.
