Is Kusatsu (Gunma) still open?

Question

Hi!

By 'still open' I mean in general (not just for this season). I hear there was a volcanic eruption nearby so wondering what went next?

We'll be fairly close by next winter.

Thanks

I quite liked that top area when I was up there, even though it was quite small. Really nice scenery which helped. Always an odd shaped resort really long and narrow.

I did too. A shame. There's not much left of interest for me now there.

Like the onsen though!

I actually like going up there more in the summer than winter - the drive through to Shiga Kogen and then down to Karuizawa. Great area.

Anyone know if they will they be dismantling the gondola?

I love Kusatsu.

I did hear the ski resort was kind of struggling and that they might not be too bothered by the scale-down.  Do correct me if I am wrong anyone.
