It could be considered a bit old fashion in this day and age - but - I do enjoy a game of cards. A friends mother showed me how to play Canasta although I never really understood. Just recently I down loaded it to my phone and have enjoyed learning / playing. Does any one else enjoy a card game and are there card games specific to countries re: where did bridge originate from & do you need to be a certain age to play / or just be able to score?

When I lived in Niseko we used to have a poker night just about every week outside of the busy winter months. Loved it. Here in Aus I meet up with a group of friends now and again for card games, board games or computer gaming. We call it 'nerd night'.

Uno?

Would love to get a poker night running with some friends, even though I'm shite at the game. Brilliant banter and atmosphere most of the time. Sadly there's just not enough free time.

Ya..it's a shame though Tubby....in this age of instant access online porn.. the naughty coolness of having a deck of dirty picture cards has totally diminished. Remember when we were kids and you had a playboy mag or a deck of dirty cards or whatever... you were a god to your friends... Miss those days of innocence. Something our kids will never experience.

Or finding ripped out pages of porn mags in the forest.....there were always random scraps of naked lady pages strewn around the trees and bushes.....it was the best day ever if you found one :)

Did we grow up in the same neighborhood or something?

For our poker night in Hirafu we used to each put in Y1000 and then play with chips. Whoever came second would get their money back and the winner would take the rest. We sometimes had up near 20 people playing with quite a few of them buying back in multiple times so the jackpot could sometimes be well over Y20,000. In my last couple of years there I'd say I was up at least Y150,000 as I won quite a few times. Ah happy days...

I never bought back in so at most I could only ever lose Y1000. Still it wasn't just about the cards. It was about getting together with friends, having a few beers and a chat. Who could not like that?
