Some yummy stuff in there, plus deoderant, which must cost about five times as much per volume in Japan.

It's the first time I've heard someone bring flour or icing sugar.

Those are actually on 'her' list, as well as Oxo cubes.

It would seem certain recipies (Yorkshire puds) do better with the English one. I do not now if that is the case, but she believes so.

Also, what is icing sugar in Japanese? If indeed our good Japanese friends use it.

糖粉. Not that difficult to find, but it might be slightly different. Japanese do gateaux very well, so many shops carry it. By comparison, the really dark brown wettish sugars can be very hard to locate. Golden syrup too. Basically the stuff you use in fruit cakes and steamed puds, all the heavy desserts. Sprinkles, hundreds and thousands, choc drops etc., to make kids cakes are also much cheaper overseas. Cup cakes are well trendy now, so I bet the selection overseas will be massive.

Maybe I need to research Yorkshire puds more!

I only ever went back to Aus once in the over 7 years I was in Japan and that was for a funeral. Didn't worry about bringing anything back with me. There was nothing really I missed from Aus that I couldn't easily get in Niseko or Sapporo.

Speaking of easily getting stuff at Niseko...they used to sell tins of Heinz Baked Beans at the Lawson's in Niseko (VERY overpriced though!) anyone seen any anywhere else?

There is a little supermarket on route 5 in Kutchan that has a fair range of international goods which I'm petty sure stocked Heinz backed beans but I doubt it'd be any cheaper than Lawson's (and sorry but can't remember the name of it off the top of my head). Possibly Costco in Sapporo? We used to head up there about once a month to stock up on more western stuff. Can't remember if they specifically had Heinz backed beans though.
