Moldtastic Trip Report: Runcorn Ski Centre and Mold

Recommended Posts

Today was the day.

Yes, it's the Trip Report you have all been waiting for. Well, maybe apart from any word from Mt Granview.

A visit to Runcorn Ski Centre, and then onto the fabulously and famously famous Mold.

First up Runcorn Ski Centre. It was surely bustling but fortunately we got there around lunchtime I think.

The main slope.

Looks like you can have a barbeque as well. Catering for the Aussies, perhaps.

Need to plan for a "ski trip" there I reckon. This was more like a recon.

Next up, Mold.

OK so onto the fabulously famous Mold.

As you might expect, it was jolly exciting - especially when we entering and saw the sign.

What a fabulously fabulous place it was.

I bet Shinzo-kun and Shakey would love to visit. If they don't already.

Today was market day so we could buy some knickers for 1 pound as well as lots of other great stuff.

Time for lunch

Lovely Steak & Ale pie pub lunch and a pint of Hobgoblins in a pub.

And I found two kebab shops.

I highly recommend a day out at Runcorn Ski Centre and Mold.

I had been waiting for literally years for this day to come but with the lack of a Dom & Phil report, glad to be able to satisfy the need!

Runcorn Ski Centre looks suitably gnarly.

And great to see a first-hand Mold report too.

Knickers, pies and kebabs: Mold has it all! :groovy:

Have had that Hobgoblin before. Seem to recall it being a bit fruity?

I'm hopeless at describing tastes in detail, would be rubbish on an oishii programe, but Hobgoblin was certainly jolly tasty. Yes, perhaps even a bit 'fruity'.

I can't dismiss the fact that the sheer excitement of being in Mold may well have influenced things, but I did enjoy it.

Thanks for the report pie-eater, looks like Mold has some good pies.

It would seem that Mold is perhaps a fine base for the skiing up there!

;)

With no dependence on the vagaries of snowfall, to boot.

The only dry ski slope I've been to is the one by B&Q in Aberdeen. It's not far from the city center.

It had some rails and probably big enough for 7s jumps on it for kids who don't mind the odd friction burn or two.

A future trip perhaps for sure but not this time.

Llandudno is quite scenic. One of those traditional English seaside towns that lots of people go to retire to, that kind of place. Well, used to be anyway.

Off for 6 nights in a converted barn in rural Yorkshire tomorrow, so may be offline for a bit.

The critical distinction is, would you classify it as oishii, or umai?

I want to know what Dom & Phil think of the report.

And if they chose Runcorn or Llandudno for their snow sports fix.
