pie-eater 207
Rick Mayall has died. Cheers for the laughs Rick. Woof. Sadly, due to all the 'tributes' on youtube, it's hard to find some classic clips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKfbSHW9uGA
JellyBelly 1
He did some really funny stuff.
scouser 4
I didn't know about the accident he had a while back, sounds like he was lucky to come out of that.
NoFakie 45
The People's Poet, what a total legend. I was fourteen when the Young Ones first showed, and I've never laughed as much in my life as that first episode. The two series were mindblowing at the time. Thanks Rik! (throwaway comment about standup being super trendy and big business now, but the vast majority of the comedians being nowhere near as funny)
pie-eater 207
I think "Mike" helped Rik, Viv and Neil seem even more funny than they actually were, but still. Mindblowing indeed.

surfarthur 22
Actor and long-time friend Adrian Edmondson said of Rik Mayall: "There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him."And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish b*****d." pie-eater 207
I'm actually rather sad about this, didn't realize how much I loved Rik, the funny b'stard I can't quite think of anyone who I've laughed at more over the years.
Tubby Beaver 209
I remember liking the young ones when I was a kid, but actually watching again some years later and not liking them that much.......still a very famous British comedy person
mina2 6
What had he done in recent years? All my memories of him are from 80s and 90s.
1 4
Absolutely ****ing hate the "like us to see more info or get a sticker" kind of bullshit. It was fun earlier on but I'm not using it much now.
yamayamayama 2
I know what you mean about the youtube clips - very difficult to find good ones now as thousands of people put up crappy 'tributes'.
Thunderbird2 0
Went to see Bottom live once. Very funny. Thanks for the laughs.
muikabochi 208
Apparently he was still producing stuff even in the middle of filming a movie up until last week. Hit and miss I thought but the hits were bang on funny.
NoFakie 45
I don't think I've ever watched the New Statesman properly. I might have to give it another go. I've never seen Bottom either. I saw the Bambi episode of the Young Ones again on Tuesday and still thought it was really funny. It's on Youtube in three parts.
scouser 4
I also missed The New Statesman.
