Wizz 11
Can someone remind me when is rainy season usually from and to on the island of Japan? Or better still, in the areas you live. (On the island of Japan?)
sanjo 2
I think in these parts it's usually the second half of June through until mid to maybe late July.
634-maru 4
Starts too early Ends too late (Approximately)
snowdude 44
Roughly mid June -mid July in these parts. Recent two years we have not had a rainy season just a dry rainy season.
Chriselle 158
Calling it the "rainy season" has always seemed dubious at best.
Tubby Beaver 209
Calling it the "rainy season" has always seemed dubious at best. I've always thought so too Either way Hokkaido doesn't have one
Chriselle 158
Especially considering Scottish and west coast Canadian weather...haha..
Tubby Beaver 209
Haha! Yeah! Even looking at the stats, in Tokyo, June averages only 12 rainy days with 120 odd hours of sunshine.....not exactly what I would class as a "rainy season". Perhaps Okinawa and Kyushu are a bit different.....they may be more affected by the tail end of the Asian monsoon, but I always thought it a bit strange that it was called a rainy season. Students used to ask when my rainy season was back home, I'd say everyday!
Chriselle 158
Haha....Ya, when isn't it rainy season. It is one of the reasons I don't really want to go back home.
muikabochi 208
For me, it's the type of rain (mad torrential it-almost-hurts kind) coupled with the oppressive humidity that makes it that "rainy season" feeling. Which isn't a very comfortable one!
Chriselle 158
....Ya...the humidity....
tokabochi 9
Rainy season kind of rain today. But it's cool out there.
Tubby Beaver 209
Is it actual rainy season rain or just regular? I remember watching the TV weather a couple of years ago and them saying, after continuous rain for 3 or 4 days, that yesterday's rain wasn't rainy season rain, but today's is!! Slippery Jim 65
I hate it when the rainy season is declared finished...and then it drizzles for four straight days!
joshnii 2
I hate marmite. Both when it's rainy season, and when it's not.

sapporo 8
People on the island of Japan are always very proud of their 4 seasons....but isn't it 5? Spring, rainy, summer, autumn/fall and best of all, winter.
Slippery Jim 65
You forgot typhoon, in between summer & autumn.

Thundercat 60
Typical foreigners getting it all wrong. The four seasons don't refer to the actually seasons occurring outside. They refer to the four seasons of different types of food! Simplified it goes: takenoko/nikujaga (spring), somen/zaru soba (summer), nimono/furai(fried stuff) (autumn), and nabe (winter). All season classics include any type of fish and/or tempura. C'mon, get it right guys!
Chriselle 158
Lest we forget the seasonal beers BM.....
