When I first came to Japan - and was not in the city - there were so many things I wanted but couldn't get here.

Even simple stuff like English books were difficult to get.

Cheese? Plastic 'cheese' aside, no way.

Clothes or shoes?! Joking!

But now with t'inta and everything, there's only a few things that I still miss and feel I need to stock up on from back home.

Some things are admittedly very expensive here, but still you can get hold of them if you really want.

Just bought a pair of very large 'my size' Nike trainers online for 4000 yen. Not only big size, but cheaper than back in UK.

I'm trying to think:

HP Sauce

English mustard

Some chocolate

Certain beers

Coronation Street

In a way I actually want a few things to remain unavailable - just so I can go back and enjoy them as a treat once a year.

On the other hand, there's no Abenomics in England, which is a real downer.

You used to get it in Minpla but there's a colouring in it that's illegal here so it had to be pulled

I ponder whether the postage really is that expensive, or if the companies that specialise in feeding your expat needs just add an unreasonably large great big chunk on for their trouble.

I can see that postage would be expensive though. It's certainly not cheap.

Oh, and Heinz baked beans!

(They used to sell them at the Seiyu in Niseko, like ¥500 a tin, but couldn't find them when I looked in March)

They aren't Heinz but Seiyu (again! ;) ) across from Sams Bikes sells pork n beans in small cans for about 140$

Agreed!! Sports mixture rocks!

Deli stuff like hummus, bologna sausage, salami, etc.

Good quality, thick cut bacon

Hummus is really easy to make yourself, get some tahini/goma paste, can of chick peas, mash em up, mix it tahini, salt pepper, lime/lemon juice and Robert is ur fathers brother.

Bacon is best when made yourself and then you cut it as thick as you like :yummy:

We make our own bacon too, and have a meat slicer I got off Amazon US to slice it with, but sometimes it's nice to buy things in a shop.

If I'm on my hols and there is nice bread and cheese and deli stuff, preferably from a bakers and a charcuterie or a market, I'm not fussed about going to restaurants for lunch. Or for dinner, for that matter.

I've only seen it a couple of times but I think the highlights programme on Sky Perfect is better than Match of the Day. More footage and less babble.
