muikabochi 208
I just realised, it's getting on for the end of March and we don't have a Beer 2014 thread. So here it is. Recently I was given a crate of Kirin Classic. While nothing out of the ordinary, very nice.
Tubby Beaver 209
Seiyu have stocked an IPA from Shepherd Neames brewery in England. Not bad but not so different in taste to the Gentleman James Ale they stock from the same brewery.....can't remember it's full name offhand
sanjo 2
I knew we were missing something! How many months until Akiaji 2014?!
NoFakie 45
Seiyu is owned by Walmart and the beers are the Asda own brand ones. They're quite good for the money though.

scouser 4
Any decent new spring beers at all?
Thundercat 60
On my way to Gotemba Kogen for the Sakura festival. Will let you know later
Peetan 10
Got some Belhaven's Twisted Thistle from the local yamaya. It's actually very drinkable this year. Also have a bottle of Epic's Smoked n' Oaked saving for a special occasion. Strong stuff, but bloody hell it's nice.
Thundercat 60
Had two seasonal beers from gotemba kogen this past weekend. One was a Sakura beer which was like a very weak kriek Belgian style and the other was a wheat bock which was very nice. Had a few too many of course!
634-maru 4
Sounds good to me.
Alexander L 80
weak, low on taste. Not my preferred characteristic in a beer.
Tubby Beaver 209
Moan of the week: How can a bar call itself a craft beer bar and only sell 1 beer on tap, the rest of it's line up in bottles?!
Thundercat 60
Is it craft beer in the bottles? Quite a few small breweries like to bottle age their beer.
Tubby Beaver 209
Yes it is, but craft beer (in fact all beer) is best on draught. I can buy bottled beer from a shop for a fraction of the price.....
Thundercat 60
You can buy bottles of craft beer from shops? I find the selection tends to be limited and quite expensive. I don't see anything wrong with a bar having a stock of bottled beers. It lets them have a way bigger selection, especially since having taps takes up so much time and space. I also disagree about all beer being best on tap. Depending on the yeast being used (for example those used in Belgian beers) they have to be aged in a bottle.
Tubby Beaver 209
Bottled beer is nowt compared to draught
Thundercat 60
Have you honestly ever done a side by side comparison of the same beer poured from a bottle and on tap? For certain styles like lagers and really hoppy beers draught is probably better. For some other styles, like big beers (high abv), bottle conditioning is better.
Tubby Beaver 209
Yeah I have......draught beer is better. Bottled beer is ok, sure, but a bar calling itself a craft beer bar that has only 1 beer on tap?! Good ane!
Thundercat 60
I guess I would just be happy that there are any places that offer craft beer. It wasn't long ago that it was very difficult to get anything other than macro brew.
OzOzOz 2
I like almost all beer.
