r45 4
My Japanese friend always asks about 'smoky' Irish whiskey.
surfarthur 22
so for you whiskey drinkers, do you drink neat, with a little spring water, or on the rocks?
Alexander L 80
Scotch Whisky. Whiskey for anything else. Straight, then a separate glass of water.
cal 6
Ardbeg Tried some of that last year, I really liked it. Like beer though, I'm not that good at telling big differences between different brands.
Chriselle 158
If you remember in the sake thread a customer gave me a nice bottle of rare sake. Well, a few weeks ago the same guy gave me a nice bottle of Bowman single malt. I'm not much of whiskey guy so it was kind of a waste giving it to me but apparently it's a nice single malt.. Tubby Beaver 209
Bowman? Or Bowmore?
TheOriginalMyoko 0
I want to meet this friend and become chummy.

teikiatsulover 6
I found an 18 year Glenfiddich for 5000 yen...is that a good deal? Most 18 years are double that at least., so is it just an average bottle? Has anybody had that?
surfarthur 22
While I haven't tried the 18, i regularly enjoy the 12. 5000 yen sounds like quite a good deal, that's about half the price it is in the stores here in Perth.
Tubby Beaver 209
Glenfiddich is one of the top brands......I imagine its a very good deal
teikiatsulover 6
Cool, thanks. Might have to get it and try it.
Metabo Oyaji 71
Have to admit to not being a big fan of Glenfiddich. Seems a bit too uptight and Victorian for my tastes. But some are surely into that sort of thing.
Itineratus 0
i really like Lagavulin 16, on the OP's list. i like islay peats but find the lagavulin most balanced. on the mountain i carry a flask of ardbeg 10 with me in my backpack. it's hard to taste subtlety when your face is frozen so i found the ardbeg peat bomb works well :=)
Thundercat 60
Got a bottle of Glenlivet: The Master Distiller's Reserve, from a friend. Very good. One of my favourites in a long time. It has a creamy honey and vanilla forward taste and finishes dry and slightly tart.
Alexander L 80
I like that. It's just loverly.
surfarthur 22
My better half, her parents and her brother and his wife have all gone in to buy me a 27 y.o. bottle of bruichladdich that was distilled on my 3rd birthday. It will have to be a very special occasion before I will be opening that bottle.
