SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 180 Posted December 11, 2013 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 11, 2013 Some of you might have noticed that the snow depth data has started updating on our resort pages. For example: http://www.snowjapan...a/yuzawa/kagura You may also have noticed things like GALA Yuzawa having 999cm of snow: http://www.snowjapan...awa/gala-yuzawa While that would be.... interesting, it did not actually get 999cm of snow since yesterday. (More like 15cm). That number is appearing because GALA Yuzawa is not yet open and is the default given by the providers of the data. We are still in the process of getting this set up properly, so please bear with us as we do that. The numbers will also soon appear on the listing pages. Thanks
muikabochi 208
Look forward to it SJ-David.
Karnidge 2
Good work guys, though I must say I'm rather outraged at incorrect data being shown. Who can I write to?
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 180 Posted December 11, 2013 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 11, 2013 Believe me, I am quite sure we will have some serious emails coming in with people properly complaining about these things. Of course, we don't want that incorrect info to be on our site and we will get it off as soon as we can. Unfortunately the data itself is out of our direct control and we need to work with what we are provided with. I just wanted to make a post about that to explain. Excuses! We'll just try to get it sorted asap.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 180 Posted December 12, 2013 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 12, 2013 OK we have sorted this out now. If a resort is not updating it's snow depth data, like Gala Yuzawa, then no numbers will appear: http://www.snowjapan...awa/gala-yuzawa If a resort is not providing any kind of data, then nothing at all will appear in that area of the page: http://www.snowjapan...amiuonuma/urasa ----- In the next few days we will be adding this snow depth data to other pages on the site (eg. resort prefecture listing pages). Will update when that is going. Thanks.
Metabo Oyaji 71
What if a resort really does get 999 cm of new snow, though? (Mainly just a problem for Mt. Granview, I suppose.)
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 180 Posted December 12, 2013 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 12, 2013 Good point. If they get 999cm, it'll just show as "- cm". You'll have to judge whether it means they are not yet open or have 999cm.
Slippery Jim 65
Surely for Mt Granview you'll need to add a few more digits! Nice work, guys.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 180 Posted December 16, 2013 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 16, 2013 You may notice that the snow depth data is beginning to appear on some of the resort listing pages now: Niigata Prefecture http://www.snowjapan...fecture/niigata Yuzawa town: http://www.snowjapan...rts/town/yuzawa Search on 'Hakuba' (using the 'Search resorts' text box top right on the main site): http://www.snowjapan...ch?words=hakuba Click on the 'Snow depth' text at the top of the columns to sort on any of those pages. We're not quite done yet on this - still adjusting.
