yoroshiku onegai shimasu 2
I see on amazon now, perhaps in other places to, when I buy some CDs I buy there is an 'auto rip' feature where you basically also get the digital copy of the cd. How does that work then? Does the artist get paid for 1 copy bought or two? Why on some and not others? I find it all very confusing.
klingon 10
I have no idea of how it works legally and the agreements that there are (hopefully) with artists. But, I see it as basically just being a convenience to upload what you have bought to your phone or whatever. Oh.... and of course using cloud space which you'll start paying for if you go over a certain amount.
klingon 10
The Autorip versions are often more expensive than the mp3-only downloads. I think. So it all works out, as you might expect.
big-will 7
Here's a question. What happens if you buy the CD as a present for a friend. You get the Autorip, the friend gets the CD and for surely makes a digital copy. Record company no like?

grungy-gonads 54
Good that you can get an album immediately while waiting for the CD though. Is amazon japan doing that?
muikabochi 208
Never heard of this, and I bought a CD from amazon (uk) last week. I'll just have to rip it myself I suppose.
grungy-gonads 54
They should do it with books too. Amazon Japan frustratingly went from delivering Mozzas autobiog day after to release to '2-3 weeks'. WTF. So just downloaded from amazon, though I'd like the book.
