Nah, you dont need to be nervous. Far from it, you should be looking forward to it! Sure you wont be a pro within a day but if you dedicate a bit of time to it you will improve out of sight very soon. If you are snowboarding, a surfing or skateboarding background can help a little but having said that people who dont have that sort of background can be ripping in a relatively short time as well. Go for it!

Reminds me of the first time I went. Couldn't sleep a wink the night before. I kept going over in my mind how I was going to be stepping on this slippery thing at the top of a big hill, with no brakes.

Try and sleep, I would. You'll be better for it in the morning...

I'm sure you'll do fine. Some things I would point out to a friend out their first time:

*learn how to fall correctly

*wear a hip-pad, because you are going to fall lots

*like Ocean11 said, get lots of sleep the night before

*focus on making turns and stopping. the sooner you learn how to stop and control your speed, the quicker your confidence will build

*stop from time to time and just take it all in, just ENJOY!
