Alexander L 80
Do you actually like that Dr. Who stuff?
grungy-gonads 54
It's all "new" Who, isn't it?
Thundercat 60
Yes, all new Who unfortunately. Not really digging it... just brought back some repressed nightmares from my youth!
grungy-gonads 54
Eccleston was the best of new who, northern and down to earth. Really dislike Tennant.
pie-eater 207
Agreed. Haven't seen much of that Matt smith fella though.
grungy-gonads 54
OK so no, Hulu is not worth 980 yen a month. Not for me anyway. Can't see much has been updated in the month since I started, apart from Japanese stuff. Not much I want to see really on it, so cancelled the free trial. Got to see Walking Dead 2-3 though. grungy-gonads 54
And so I'm struggling to find other uses for Apple TV.
HoTRoD 2
I still don't get what 'Apple TV' is.
Tubby Beaver 209
its a wee box that you plug into ur TV that links your iTunes account on your PC or your Mac to enable you to stream onto your TV. It also carries in built apps such as Sky News, You Tube, Netflix, NBA TV, NHL TV and many various other things that allow you to watch internet content direct on your TV. Some you have to pay an extra fee for (as GG said with HULU) and others are free. I mainly use it to watch Youtube and movies that are on my PC, through my TV.
grungy-gonads 54
Tubby --- Sky News? I must recheck that...

grungy-gonads 54
I'm going to check that right now...
grungy-gonads 54
Hmm no I don't see that. I have Bloomberg ( ) but can't see Sky. Are you signed into an account, uk one or something? Actually there's nowt on there for me really. I need to sell this useless box.
grungy-gonads 54
Ah update. I changed a setting to UK and I now get Sky News. That's better at least I can use this.
NoFakie 45
Get a waterproof case for your Ipad and you can watch the news in the bath like rach's friends. (assuming that's what Airplay does)
grungy-gonads 54
Isn't it the other way round? Anyway nah...
teikiatsulover 6
its a wee box that you plug into ur TV that links your iTunes account on your PC or your Mac to enable you to stream onto your TV. Some you have to pay an extra fee for (as GG said with HULU) and others are free. I mainly use it to watch Youtube and movies that are on my PC, through my TV. So,ummm, movies that you've acquired and not bought through iTunes can be played through Apple TV? That sounds good. Is the volume the same as the tv? I'd like to watch Game of Thrones on the big tv rather than my laptop starting April!
NoFakie 45
If you're laptop has an HDMI out, just plug it into your tv. The cable carries video and audio. If it doesn't have an HDMI out, you laptop should still have a monitor out (D 15 pin something or other) and most flat screen tvs will have a connection for that. Hook up the audio from the laptop headphone jack. I dunno what video outputs a mac laptop has, but the above should be good for windows. A 900 yen non-Apple adapter will let you play video off a retina (4G) or later ipod touch via HDMI onto a tv. Most Ipads and Iphones should be able to do it too. To get video onto your iOS device without worrying about formats, install VLC.

The volume depends on how good the file is.....if it's been ripped well then the sound is fine
teikiatsulover 6
Thanks Mr. wiggles and Tubby I'm lazy to move the laptop back and forth to have it close enough that I can plug it in m(_ _)m
Alexander L 80
just get one. It's very cheap and very handy. I keep suggesting PPTV but you guys think it's too confusing.
grungy-gonads 54
Or rather, don't get one because it's not very interesting. Unless you want Sky News. PPTV looks cool if you read Chinese. But the faffing about if you don't makes it less than fun.
Tubby Beaver 209
Red Bull TV seems to have been added to Apple TV, some good snowboard, surf n skateboard vids on there
