ippy 66
Yes, the infamous yeti. Spend a day riding then head to the zoo and feel like shit for the poor bloody animals freezing their nuts off.
redcabbage 0
And Fujiten Snow Resort on the other side. They are both low down though.
pie-eater 207
Of course if you were gnarly you'd take you kit of and start hiking.
Tubby Beaver 209
No there Isn't!! Yeti and Fujiten are not ON mt Fuji, they are on foothills BESIDE Mt Fuji
Thundercat 60
Neither of those places are on Fuji. There are no ski-jo on Fuji. From both resorts you can see Fuji off in the distance.
BagOfCrisps 24
Is Mt Fuji "protected" in that way, ie. no development or something?
Tubby Beaver 209
Duno, but the fact its a whopping great big volcano would put me off building anything on there
Mick Rich 78
and a whopping great big ACTIVE volcano that periodically throws a volcanic tantrum, the next one being due around about......now!
Go Native 70
Building a couple of ski resorts on an active volcano was no deterrant in the Nth island of New Zealand. Check out Whakapapa and Turoa on Mt Ruapehu.
onehunga 26
I can remember driving past Mt Ruapehu after one eruption and seeing the whole of the top covered in black ash, with lots of little white lines down it. People were back skiing within a week of the eruption.
big-will 7
I would imagine there are restrictions on what can be developed on the slopes of Mt Fuji.
Slippery Jim 65
All national park down to the nth station, no?

Alexander L 80
There will never be a resort on Fuji. It's a sacred mountain.
BagOfCrisps 24
Out of interest how steep in degrees is Fuji?
Tubby Beaver 209
mmm...dunno the official numbers....but pretty bloody steep!! Having walked up it last summer.....its disheartening to walk those many switchbacks and look up and still be hours away from the summit.....I hated that mountain. (very nice to look at from afar tho )
HoTRoD 2
My guess Steeper than Niseko Gentler than Hakuba
bugbear 0
Looks like a fairly constant gradient as well! Would be fun to do.

TheSkiingWombat 0
All national park down to the nth station, no? With it pencilled in to be a World Heritage in June, stuff like that will only get stricter you'd think.
TheOriginalMyoko 0
Yes expect even more of a rush to walk up Fuji!
BoogyWoogy 0
I thought there was both a big ski resort and a big music festival ON mount fuji until I started lurking here and learning!
Tubby Beaver 209
The 1st Fuji rock was down in the shadow of Fuji, however it was cancelled half way thru the first day because a typhoon swept thru and blew it all to shit. Since then it's been sited at Naeba ski resort in Niigata
snowdude 44
mmm...dunno the official numbers....but pretty bloody steep!! Having walked up it last summer.....its disheartening to walk those many switchbacks and look up and still be hours away from the summit.....I hated that mountain. (very nice to look at from afar tho ) Did you climb during the day? I climbed it at night it was way back in Aug 1st 2000. The night climb was great because you could not see what the mountain was like but we saw several shooting stars and of course the lights down below twinkling as the sky was clear. Started around 9pm got to the summit around 3am. We sat there and waited for the sun to rise, that was really cool with a very quiet earily feeling . After that we wondered around the creater before making our way down which by now cloud and fog and started to make it way in. From a distance Fuji looks great but when you are actually on it during the day it looks shite just like walking down a huge redish brown mole hill. Climbing Fuji at night is the way to go.
