sasquatch 0
so im thinking for the first time to drive to the nagano slopes this weekend, have my snowboard rack all set up, but worried about some nitemare traffic. does anyone usually drive from tokyo and want to share horror stories to keep me from making a huge mistake and spending 8 hours in a traffic jam? or am i just being paranoid and the drive is easy peasy like in the summer? Ocean11 0
Not seen any major problems unless they decide to run two snowploughs abreast blocking both lanes (when there isn't any snow). You'll probably get stopped and told to put snow chains on too if you haven't got studless tires.
scouser 4
This year not seen anything bad at all. Definitely worth it if you can - beats the train in SO many ways.
DrMabuse 0
The days of nightmares seems to be over for the most part. It wasn't even too bad around New Year (apart from the normal U-Turn rush).

Animal0 0
One of the most frustrating days I've had in Japan was returning from Hakuba one day last season. A drive that should have taken about 40 minutes took 6 hours, some accident up ahead and blizzards blowing. A nightmare that was.
