Popular Post muikabochi 208
I love skiing, but I also love just how beautiful snow is and how it transforms the scenery. I love the lines, the textures, the marshmallowy pillowy bits and the shapes. This season I'm going to try and take more pics of that kind of thing, all being well. Here's just a few to start off with. Went to Yuzawa today and took a few photos on the way, nothing special but still everywhere is suddenly looking much prettier. We don't have tons of snow yet really in this region, and today is a silvery kind of cloudy day with the sun trying to break through.
Karnidge 2
Untouched snow really is quite beautiful. Look forward to your pics this year muika.
miller 1
Nice. How close was the bird, muika?
muikabochi 208
Thanks, I'd say probably about 20-30m from where I was. He stood still while I took the pic.

miller 1
Thanks, I'd say probably about 20-30m from where I was. He stood still while I took the pic. That far? Presumably with a zoom, which one?
Chriselle 158
If you were to give a class I'd certainly relish being one of your students. Lovely!

JellyBelly 1
I love the fresh untouched snow look too. Great Pics!! muikabochi has a habit of doing that. Check out his trip reports in the Trip Reports section.
Mick Rich 78
Well that's most of the next calendar right there!! Nice work as always Muika!
JA2340 16
Yep, one classy dude with the lens, muika! Well done! Womder how the local camera club would score them if I were to "borrow" one - not that I'm going to, just wondered at the scoring.
muikabochi 208
Haha thank you. All I'd say in my 'lesson', Chriselle, is... find pretty stuff and take pics of it! And probably ask for help from other people messing around with settings. Still learning. Slowly.
JA2340 16
Seems to work out quite OK for you, then! Point & hope? Obviously, the more times you push the button, the better your chances of getting a good shot, PROVIDED you have some sense of what you are trying to capture, that is! Oh, and provided you learn from previous mistakes!
seemore 66
Cheers Mate I now have a new desktop background Love your work as always
tokabochi 9
My mate muika just has a really excellent eye for beautiful composition. As we all know. Seems to me that is probably the most important thing. Obviously has a very good camera etc. Makes it look effortless. Which is not meant to take away from his natural skill there. Chriselle 158
The better you are the more humble...funny how that works. So, for shots like that what's going through your mind...other than composition? Certainly it's not just point and shoot on auto...??
muikabochi 208
For these ones today I was actually on automatic mode just choosing focus point I suppose it usually is just composition that I think about most. Usually when I am out taking pics these days I use Apeture mode and choose my focus point, and trying to get better at understand that, but lots of the time not much more than that. I recall saying this from a few years back, but I am kind of keen to learn more about 'faffing about'. I never seem to get round to it properly though. I enjoy taking quick photos of stuff I see. BeerTengoku 35
Just go and make us all a calendar will you? Amazing pics - the only regret I have about taking photos is not being able to get the shimmer from the snow.

muikabochi 208
Yes it was 200mm on the 70-200mm. With a lot of the photo cut away and discarded.
