snowdude 44
Another update to my original forecast! It has been a difficult one to predict this year as everything was late and changing. Things that indicate a severe winter is on its way have appeared over the past few weeks, that is why the update, although the weather MAY be up and down at times, there will be periods of extreme cold and extremely heavy spells of snow.
JA2340 16
Geeze, I hope you're right, snowdude!especially the heavy snow bit!
69 5
Do I need one or two new woolly jumpers.
pie-eater 207
I'm going to get one just like Shakey wears in the indoor sceners of his classic Merry Christmas Everyone video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeyHl1tQeaQ Or like the one he wore on TOTP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_rYo4lT-eM
Go Native 70
although the weather MAY be up and down at times, there will be periods of extreme cold and extremely heavy spells of snow. So pretty much like every winter ever experienced in recorded history in Japan! Thanks for that deep insight snowdude!!
Chriselle 158
I did see on the news last week that eastern Japan will be much colder than usual but the rest...not so different than usual.
Go Native 70
JMA predicting cooler than average for Dec mid Honshu down and a bit warmer in Hokkaido. They are prediciting similar for Jan and Feb but more than month out is really getting into crystal ball stuff. Funny how your forecast snowdude coincides almost perfectly with the updated forecast from JMA. And here I was under the impression that you believed JMA to be part of the global warmist conspiracy! And here they are predicting cooler than ave temps!! I seem to remember you once claiming they never did that anymore!
Chriselle 158
.......carry on though...
RobBright 35
Yay, good news snowdude. Shall bring out the snow maracas tonight. Let it snow.
Jimmer 2
Lol, that forecast sounds like something I might read in my horoscope...
pie-eater 207
After literally minutes of careful consideration and consultation with my charts, tea leaves and jellyfish, I would like to offer my forecast. Not entirely dissimilar to snowdudes, but more perhaps more stick neck out risky. Things that indicate a severe winter is on its way have appeared over the past few weeks, that is why the update, although the weatherWILL DEFINITELY be up and down at times, there will be prolonged periods of extreme cold and extremely heavy spasms of snow. I will stand by my prediction, but please do not make any specific plans based on these.
deadlymonkey 0
I really hope this is true. Aomori had an amazing winter last year in regards to snowfall. I'm hoping for even more than that this year.
muikabochi 208
Hey, what happened to the extremely cold winter? I just was looking through photos last night, in untouched areas we have less than 2/3 the amount of snow of last year, more like half. And that's a big difference. Really hasn't got going in style at all this time. I feel very about it all.
Chriselle 158
I think Hokkaido has been on par (not sure) but ya...Honshu has been a let down.
ippy 66
I dont know what youre talking about muika! its snowing right now outside my house. #allthewrongfekkinplaces Actually, hows it looking up there today? Supposed to be a decent day for it.
muikabochi 208
Completely useless light snow at the moment. Actually no that has stopped. It's just not cold. Since the beginning of the season I have only ONCE had to go out and do some decent yuki-oroshi. Don't know abour oroshi.... more like osoroshii!
panhead_pete 27
Perhaps related, perhaps not. Extremely dry "wet season" here in the NT.Lowest Jan rainfall on record here at work by a LONG way. Its hot but the monsoon is still way up north.
Thundercat 60
Well, not that it means anything for your area but this was the third coldest January in 20 years here (and the coldest December in 10 years).
muikabochi 208
Interesting! Snow where you are is pretty useless though hey, I guess. Obviously, disclaimer, I'm talking about this part of Niigata. I wouldn't presume to report on conditions elsewhere, not being there.
ippy 66
Its properly coming down out there right now. Temps are getting colder if anything. Visibility has dropped to around 100m. This is honestly the heaviest ive seen it fall down our end this year. I mean it might be short lived, and its probably been heavier at night, but daytime this is the heaviest ive seen it, it looks like sheet rain Went out and had a lookie, still seems a bit wet, be we are at 350m. Higher up it might be better quality.
Thundercat 60
Snow here is 100% useless, unfortunately. However, the coldest days here are usually clear and precipitation free, so we don't actually get much snow. I think the grand total snow for Numazu this season is 0cms. ippy 66
All gone back to light snow again. None of the flurry there of the last 40 minutes made a dent in the roads and cars out there.
onehunga 26
The weather report on the TV yesterday was saying snow for the Toyko region today, all we are getting is rain.
Thundercat 60
It seems this front is another one from the south(ish) so likely very mixed results as far as snow in the mountains is concerned. We should be getting some good waves around here tomorrow.
Chriselle 158
Nothing as of yet BM..but it looks to build. No snow on Kameishi this morning either. Thought you were off to the slopes.. EDIT...just saw on the weekend thread you bailed..
