Kirin 0
Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I would like to go snowboarding and stay overnight for the long weekend coming up on November 23-25. Do you know if there is anywhere that I could go from Osaka by bus/tour company that would have decent snow? I don't have a car unfortunately Thanks!
ippy 66
We need a decent drop for the base. Theres scatterings on the 6 day forecast, but unless next week is bringing something proper, im not entirely confident that the holiday weekend is going to deliver round nagano way. We7ve still got a fortnight after that though so fingers crossed. My advice, for here atleast is to not bank on it, but maybe start doing a snow dance just to help things on if you can. pie-eater 207
I think this is the snow dance, ippy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyI4DpE531g

hellyer 216
I don't think the rice crispie snow dance is working I am watching it but it is getting decidedly hotter in here
Slippery Jim 65
Oh, I think it's working just fine...
@tokyo 14
I find it somewhat scary myself
Kansaiash 6
I don't think you will have much luck getting a bus/tour package. I checked out the JTB brochure and even the trips to Nagano don't start until early in December.
Mick Rich 78
Why have I suddenly got a craving for some cereal? Probably (well perhaps definitely) not worth the effort from Osaka but if you're really desperate to go riding and in the absence of decent snow elsewhere, you could always come to Tokyo for the weekend then pop down to Yeti Snow Town (Shizuoka) or Sayama dome (Saitama) for the day! Desperate's probably the key word there!!
Kirin 0
True. Is it not possible to get to Yeti from Osaka?
yamaski 0
Possible if you want a nice long drive. (For Yeti?!)
Popular Post Thundercat 60
OMG. Do not come all the way from Osaka to ski at Yeti. If you come here for another reason and decide to go to Yeti as a bonus then it's not a bad idea. Otherwise, stay at home with some booze and good ski videos until mid-December when the resorts start to open.
ippy 66
i strongly strongly and in no uncertain terms endorse BM's position on yeti.

Chriselle 158
To go to Yeti is a tough decision even if you live 20 minutes away....nevermind a 5 or 6 hour drive from Osaka. One thing for sure Yeti is NO Tsugaike.
Thundercat 60
Yeah seriously. I've only been there three times in the past 6 years (one time was just to drink and meet girls, see the 3am skiing thread) and I can pretty much see it out my office window.
Metabo Oyaji 71
If you can settle for artificial snow, the following seem to be opening in November in Kansai and points south: Nov. 16: --Up Kannabe, Hyogo prefecture --Ikawa Skijo Kanaiyama, Tokushima prefecture --Utopia Saioto, Hiroshima prefecture Nov. 18: --Tenzan, Saga prefecture
Kirin 0
lol, ok thanks guys. I won't bother with Yeti then. I guess I'll wait a bit longer. I'll be out of the country from mid-december, so was hoping to get one session in before that. But I think I'll just wait until I get back in January and hit it hard then
gifugill 0
Probably a good idea, esp about Yeti.
