Chriselle 158
No disrespect GG.... I'm a Mac addict and probably in that pack as well...
grungy-gonads 54
Hey, none taken Chriselle, none at all. I'm not a sheep. Don't think so anyway. This will be my first Mac desktop computer. It's just I've kind of been wanting a new desktop for 6 months now, and have been holding on for these. S'ok?
xxx 2
laugh out loud funny that one
@tokyo 14
That sheep gif is a classic.
grungy-gonads 54
Oh yes what timing. I got my order in within 1 minute of the buy buttons going online just now. 2-3 weeks shipping apparently.
BagOfCrisps 24
Congrats! Which did you get?
grungy-gonads 54
27" 3.4GHzクアッドコアIntel Core i7(Turbo Boost使用時最大3.9GHz) 8GB 1,600MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 2 x 4GB 3TB Fusion Drive NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5 ---- Bought 32GB from crucial and already have it. It cost $175 including shipping. The upgrade from 8GB to 32GB on Apple's site is a whopping Y52,800!!! That is one huge profit they are making on RAM there. Pretty outrageous actually. BagOfCrisps 24
Cool. If you don't mind me asking how much was that? The same in the UK would be 2299 squids.
grungy-gonads 54
It would seem my cc will be charged 236,661 yen. Let's exchanging rates!
Chriselle 158
Damn...GG....go big or go home eh! Very nice machine. Apple has always gouged big time on RAM.
grungy-gonads 54
Well, hopefully it will last a fair few, the way I see it is no point in scrimping is there. Hopefully have it by Chrismas. I'm still pretty shocked about that RAM though! 15000 yen vs 52000 yen is one hell of a difference.
Chriselle 158
Ya..I remember back when I got my 2nd G4 tower.....( it was like 330,000 yen ) and loaded it up with RAM chips. Apple wanted 18,000 and I bought the same ones through a discount shop for less than a third of that. So, it's still about the same ratio of "dis-value".
joshnii 2
Awesome. That RAM story though is pretty amazing. Is it 'special' RAM or something or just purely gouging?
Chriselle 158
Apple certified. Other than that.......saaaaah.
grungy-gonads 54
I was reading up on that before I bought. Apparently it's essentially the same. They source it from the same 'sauce'. It might have a different label on it, but the thing itself (and of course specs) are the same. It's just the profit that's different.
muikabochi 208
I think I'm going to splash out on one of these beasts. Time to give it a go.
grungy-gonads 54
Anyone know about Time Capsule? Expensive but I like the idea of the wireless backups to my 2 machines as well as being the wifi station. (I have been wanting to replace the one I have anway).
pie-eater 207
Sounds good. Does it let you go back in time to clean up silly mistakes?! Or forward in time, to see the future! Not sure which of those I'd prefer actually.
grungy-gonads 54
I am going to go back to when I first met a Singaporean girl back at college. Ahem. After all the advice, I got the Time Capsule, 6000 yen off so not too bad. Backing up my 'not very much on it just yet' Macbook Pro. Will back up the iMac on this too. Very neat and simply to set up. RobBright 35
Time machine is useful but there are plenty of other programs that do the same thing. But if you want an all Apple set up, then... Wait for it...
grungy-gonads 54
Time Machine is software right? Why would I use something else when it's right in there at no cost? Time Capsule is the hardware.
RobBright 35
Oh sorry, read Time Machine... Need coffee, need sleep... Blurgh
KlingKlang 1
I'd love to have an all Apple set up. They make stylish stuff. That just works ( ) Sadly, I need more cash.
Chriselle 158
Ya...you big spenders are giving me Mac GAS..... Thinking about a new little mini.
