muikabochi 208
Any good? Seems that this season Kandatsu* will be open for '48 hours on the trot' from Friday night(s). I remember some places in Western Japan opening overnight, doesn't sound too appealing to me. (* personally I'd prefer it if they opened more than half the skijo on weekdays). Tubby Beaver 209
Don't they have a tie in with a Tokyo nightclub? Pretty sure I saw that last year....I wonder how busy the club nights were
muikabochi 208
I think I'll give Kandatsu a miss this season, their weekday thing annoys me too much! A feeling of desperation is what I get from them really - there seems to be a management change will they won't they every year.
Slippery Jim 65
I once climbed up a run under a clear full moon just before midnight, sat to catch my breath for a few minutes and then skied down. Now that I remember it (thanks Muika) I can't understand why I don't do it often. It was wonderful.
Thundercat 60
I keep going on about Yeti these days... I've gone to their all night weekends. It was pretty fun but the focus wasn't on boarding
SKI 15
I suppose I kind of like the idea if trying, but I enjoy my sleep too and am kind of used to doing it at night.
snowdude 44
Skiied at night until about 11pm dont think I want to ski much later than that though.
frannyo 2
Why the western Japan thing?
xxx 2
Not as cold perhaps? don't laugh if that is a silly answer.
BagOfCrisps 24
Not been in a place to try it, am curious though. Give it a go muika, you might like it!
sanjo 2
It might be fun, but... I think I'll give it a miss!
stemik 14
I once did a sponsored 24 hour ski. We had a four man team. It was very cold during the early hours. Not fun at all.
Chriselle 158
I keep going on about Yeti these days... I've gone to their all night weekends. It was pretty fun but the focus wasn't on boarding I did the Yeti all nighta once and only once.......well, actually I only lasted to about 11. I didn't know they closed the "D" run at 10 and if that's closed then you really aren't there for the skiing/boarding as you mentioned.
SKI 15
How busy was it that late on?
Wizz 11
I went to Kandatsu once for it's early open. I think it was about 5am. I was there thinking wft am I doing here, why did I not just wait until the normal opening time! It wasn't snowing and hadn't so no new snow.
Chriselle 158
How busy was it that late on? If that was a question to me about Yeti.... It gets pretty busy but as BM noted it's a young trendy boarder crowd. I left after 11 or so and there were still people coming....
Tubby Beaver 209
So they have some sort of club going as well? DJ's, beer and snow?
Chriselle 158
Nothing special other than the gas fire pits to warm up around...but, Black Mountain should chime in.....he's the authority on the Yeti nightlife scene...
ippy 66
If i remember right a few of the korean ski jo around Gangwon do are all night operations. High one also has a massive casino so you can get shit faced, lose all your money then go kill yourself on the slopes having a bit of an angry ski. If i quit japan again, im probably going to move there next i reckons. Turning up on an empty slope half cut sounds like a blast.
Chriselle 158
You could have a few bevies over lunch and an afternoon of half cut skiing right here in Japan, Ippy.
ippy 66
No chance, if im going out, im going solo. Im not meeting my maker alongside the poor bugger i dragged along with me.
NECK 14
I've done some epic midnight full moon runs at Loveland Pass in Colorado. A few friends, a few beers, a few cars for the taxi run between the entrance and exit of the run.......Ahhh happy memories
JapaneseSnowBunny 0
Loveland Pass is a great name! As for all night, my friend down in Hiroshima has done a few very late night turns, she loves it. Not done myself.
Chriselle 158
Loveland Pass.... sounds like something you'd find in Suskino... ....
Kansaiash 6
I've been to a few early morning sessions from 5am. Its nice sliding under the moon but its pretty cold and I'm usually pretty worn out by about 1pm.
