SKI 15
I see that the car parks at Kagura will this season go from being 0 yen for the last few years to 500 yen on weekends. I don't like the previous 1000 yen car park fee that most ski resorts had, but can see how making them free really cut into revenues. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/daily/naeba-now.php I suppose 500 yen is easier to swallow. Wonder if we see other places going back to charged parking....
snowbender 3
It wasn't that long ago when pretty much everywhere, at least places i know in Niigata/Nagano, charged 1000 yen even weekdays.
muikabochi 208
The 1000 yen thing always annoyed me. 500 yen is definitely more acceptable.
Thundercat 60
At Yeti, not only do you have to pay for parking, you have to pay a toll on the private road leading to the resort.
cal 6
...and it's not even any good when you get there!!!!!!
Thundercat 60
Yep. A terrible punchline to a bad joke of a resort!
brit-gob 9
I agree though 500 yen just seems more acceptable than having to hand over a note.
brit-gob 9
How much is the toll btw?
TheOriginalMyoko 0
I don't think it would be a bad thing actually. Must cost a fair whack to manage the car parks and that used to be a fairly decent chunk of income that has disappeared for many places in recent years.
onsen tamago 0
Can't remember where now but I'm sure I went to one place many years back that charged 2000 yen!
Thundercat 60
Not too much. Only a couple of hundred yen. I haven't been up there in a while but I think the parking and tolls are only applicable on the weekend. But still, for a place that already charges 3,800 yen for a single day lift ticket (more than some much much bigger places) it seems kind of crazy that they ding you for parking and tolls too. ruggachugga 0
It's not the skijo taking the cash for the road toll though is it?
Slippery Jim 65
You may not get what you pay for, but you always pay for what you get.
Karnidge 2
Can't remember where now but I'm sure I went to one place many years back that charged 2000 yen! Yikes, that's a bit nuts.

snowbender 3
How many cars in a full Kagura parking? Must be a fair amount it's pretty big. Lots of cash.
muikabochi 208
I think over 2500 cars. So: @ 0 yen = 0 yen @ 500 yen = 1,250,000 yen @ 1000 yen = 2,500,000 yen If they are full of course.
ILoveZao 8
I can totally understand this and think that we will see more. Those snow moving machines and workers don't come free!
