The name "Soma" comes from the name of a former town (which was absorbed into Hirosaki in 2006) where the ski area is located... --Not from the South of Market (SoMa) district of San Francisco. --And not from the name of the drug of the future depicted in Brave New World. The word "Romantopia" probably comes from some combination of "Romance" or "Romantic" and "Utopia"... --Not from "RomanとPia" (Polanski&Zadora). --And not from "Roman"+"Topiary." --It is in Aomori prefecture, which is also home to Niogataki, a waterfall shown here frozen solid in the winter. --Aomori is also home to Mt.
