Tsugaike Kogen

That it is. Named after (and co-developed by the owners of) Hunter Mountain ski area in New York, USA.   Over to you, Muikabochi.

snowjunky, feel free to post as many links as you want to links on SnowJapan, but not tons of links to other places please.

After all, we do actually have lists of ski resorts in Japan on our website.

I believe the most accurate and comprehensive ones to boot as well.

Thanks.

Yes Pies, I'm absolutely sure it's not Naqua Shirakami, and very, certainly, truely, absolutely sure it's not Tsugaike Kogen

Makado Onsen

Noheji Town, Aomori

Correct

All clues pointed to Aomori prefecture, in addition the first clue showed the tails of F16's from Misawa Air force base (WW on the tail indicates Misawa), which links to Noheji Station. Makado Onsen is in Noheji town.

On March 15, 1954 a F-84 Thunderjet from Misawa Air Base crashed on top of Noheji Station, destroying the station building and killing twelve people. The explosion left a crater thee meters wide and two meters deep, and set fire to one of the carriages of the Tōhoku Main Line. Platforms 1 through 3 were also destroyed. The pilot ejected, but his parachute failed to open and he was also killed
