Looks familiar but cant place a name to it. Will put on my thinking cap

Tsugaike Kogen

That it is. Named after (and co-developed by the owners of) Hunter Mountain ski area in New York, USA.   Over to you, Muikabochi.

Indeed he is: Mizuho Highland.

In Shimane prefecture, which is also home to:

--Izumo Grand Shrine, the honden of which is believed to have originally been raised up much higher, as shown in the 1/10 scale museum reconstruction;

--Candle Island (ローソク島), off the coast of Dogo Island; and

--Iwami Ginzan silver mine, now closed, but one of the world's most productive silver mines during the Edo period, and now a registered World Heritage site.

Well done once again, and over to you, onehunga!

(So what was the tip-off?)

The tip off was the old silver mine, a google search for, old mine Japan, produced a picture that was similiar to your picture. From there a search on SnowJapan for resorts in Shimane and a look at the maps for those resorts brought up the correct answer.

New one coming up soon.
